Newsweek apologies to Mike Cernovich for running a fake story about him

Newsweek retracted its story Monday about  a story it ran in November about Mike Cernovich. Newsweek admitted they wrongly said Cernovich led a "conservative botnet effort" to force the resignation of Senator Al Franken.

The initial report was based on research conducted by Unhack The Vote, a group of two persons examining outside influence in U.S. elections and politics. According to its website, Unhack The Vote is anti-Trump.

The report alleged that a "decidedly alt-right" botnet (Mike Cernovich) "weaponized" anti-Franken stories and amplified pressure on Franken to resign after allegations of sexual misconduct.

Newsweek admitted it was unable to independently verify their claims after a further review of their work.

Newsweek regrets the error.

However, Newsweek gave permission to 3641 news outlets to rerun the story. None of those sources have admitted Newsweek's mistake.

White nationalist provocateurs, a pair of fake news sites, and an army of Twitter bots and other cyber tricks helped derail Democratic Senator Al Franken last year, new research shows. While everyone has been focused on Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election to support Donald Trump, the Franken take-down originated in—and was propelled by—a strategic…

Burleigh vouched for the accuracy of her article on her twitter account today.

Nina Burleigh, pictured above, said, “I would be happy to give him (President Bill Clinton) a blowjob just to thank him for keeping abortion legal. I think American women should be lining up with their Presidential knee-pads on to show their gratitude for keeping the theocracy off our backs.”
