Security for databases of U.S. Patents remains nonexistent says Inspector General

Security for the databases at the Library of Congress’ Patent Office is nonexistent, according to two reports issued last month. They were written by Kurt W. Hyde, their Inspector General (IG).

However, Congress marked one report “Not for Public Release”.

No explanation was given.

A second IG report was issued at the same time.

Fourteen of the recommendations are unidentified, however, because they were kept from the public.

Again, no explanation.

Each federal agency has an Inspector General (IG). They are responsible for exposing wrongdoing in their agency.

In the case of the Library of Congress (LOC), the IG hides it.

The Patent Office is part of the LOC. It received 589,410 patent applications in 2015.

The Library of Congress anticipates more this year.

According to the Library of Congress, they maintain the databases for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

The security of the federal government is just as porous as the Library of Congress.

Out of 96 federal agencies, 75 per cent were rated “at significant risk of being hacked”, according to a June report of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

Dr. Carla Hayden was nominated by President Obama on Feb. 24th, 2016 to head the Library of Congress.

Her official title is Librarian of Congress.

“Michelle and I have known Dr. Carla Hayden for a long time, since her days working at the Chicago Public Library”, said President Obama in his press release linked below:

Dr. Hayden said she met Michelle over 30 years ago when Michelle was working for Mayor Richard Daley. After the Obamas married, Hayden said she saw the Obamas regularly at parties and events.

"It's interesting to see someone you've known for a long time in the White House," Hayden said.

Carla was also nominated by Obama on Jan. 10th, 2010 to be a member of the National Museum and Library Services Board, National Foundation on the Arts and Humanities.

Hyde is a Certified Public Accountant. He has experience working in three different agencies as Inspector General.

The IG job he has now is part-time.

He works full-time as a consultant for CGI’s Government Solutions. He says so in his LinkedIn profile imaged below.

CGI is the company who charged $840 million to create the website for Obamacare.

It never worked.

When it was rolled out, no one could log onto the website, Healthcare.gov, to sign up for Obamacare.

Hyde was a Senior Executive Service (SES) hire in 2010. He worked as a “Special IG” for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP).

SES means Hyde was hired directly by President Obama into a position between a cabinet post and the other agency hires. Unlike cabinet posts, SES hires are exempt from Congressional confirmation.

Some call SES appointments Deep State because they are permanent hires regardless of who becomes President.

Is CGI contracted with the Library of Congress? Is Hyde being paid as an Inspector General to investigate his employer, CGI?

No. The Inspector General can only investigate current employees of the Library of Congress.

Is Hyde getting paid to cover up CGI’s work in the Library of Congress?

Who has the pay grade to investigate?

Another Obamacare fiasco in the Library of Congress?
