Paul Erickson fraud trial is Oct. 1st

Yesterday, Judge Kathy Schreier became the new trial judge in the fraud case and money laundering case of Paul Erickson.
Today, Judge Schreier set the trial date for Oct. 1st.
Erickson is charged with one count of fraud and ten counts of money laundering.
He allegedly sold investments in South Dakota oil fields.
Instead, Erickson pocketed the money.
The scam dates back to 1996.

Erickson’s 10-page indictment is dated Feb. 5th.

The previous trial judge, Lawrence L. Piersol, removed himself from the Erickson case.
Judge Piersol wrote a two-sentence court order reassigning the case to Judge Schreier.
Erickson was the companion of convicted Russian Spy Mariia Butina.
Erickson admitted running guns for Oliver North’s Iran-Contra fiasco.
In the scam, the CIA was caught illegally selling drugs to pay for weapons for wars in Central America.
Judge Schreier was nominated by Sen. Tom Daschle (D-SD) in 1999 when Bill Clinton was President.

There is no record of Judge Schreier’s nomination to the federal bench, according to the Senate Judiciary Committee records.
