Sessions said Weds. he appointed a Special Prosecutor in July to investigate former Obama dept. heads and employees

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Wednesday that he selected a Special Prosecutor in July to investigate former department heads and employees of the Obama Administration.

It has resulted in 27 open investigations. It is the Special Prosecutor's job to recommend to a Grand Jury those who should be prosecuted. The Attorney General's office prosecutes federal crimes through the Justice Dept.

No one from the press has ever asked Sessions for the name of this Special Prosecutor. It was missed in Wednesday's interview. The video of the interview is at the end of this post.

Sessions said:

"I have appointed a person outside of Washington with many years in the Department of Justice to look at all the allegations the House Judiciary Committee members sent to us. And we are conducting that investigation."

With Sessions mentioning "an unnamed Special Prosecutor, this means some people have flipped", said Doug Hagmann, a former criminal investigator with 30 years experience.

"Who has flipped, how they flipped and why", said Hagmann, are details to be released soon.

According to Hagmann, Sessions' unnamed Special Prosecutor no longer works for the federal government and "has been working side-by-side with Inspector General Michael Horowitz since mid-summer".

The Inspector General's Office is the Internal Affairs Dept. of the Justice Dept. It is a conflict for the Justice Dept. to investigate itself. Horowitz has a staff of 500 who oversee 73 federal agencies.

Horowitz's office can only investigate current federal employees. Sessions hired a Special Prosecutor outside the Justice Dept. to investigate its former employees.

Update:

Sessions revealed March 29th that he appointed John W. Huber as Special Counsel (Prosecutor).
