Hazelwood is under house arrest until he is sentenced on June 27th. Prosecutors told Judge Curtis Collier that they believe Hazelwood to be a flight risk. Prosecutors wanted Hazelwood prisoned immediately.
Hazelwood owns a house in Italy, an airplane, three other houses, and was just paid $40 million in severance pay. Hazelwood was also paid $77 million over his last four years at Pilot.
With the trial over, Judge Curtis Collier has no reason to withhold the jury's transcript of Hazelwood's "vile and racist" comments. Judge Collier ruled that the transcript be kept from the public. It was withheld to avoid a mistrial.
