Hepatitis A has spread to Phoenix from San Diego
The federal agency, Center for Disease Control (CDC), confirmed yesterday that hepatitis A has spread to Phoenix, Arizona from San Diego, California. The distance between these cities are 355 miles.
The CDC is an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
This admission was made yesterday by Sally Ann Iverson (pictured above), a CDC epidemic intelligence officer in Phoenix, Arizona. She said three samples from Arizona patients were “molecularly identical" or the same as samples from hepatitis A patients in San Diego.
Hepatitis A can be fatal and has resulted in 17 deaths in San Diego, California over the past month.
