Hepatitis A update in Detroit
Michigan has 14 times more hepatitis A cases than it did last year at this time, according to Dr. Eden Wells, head of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). She is pictured above.
The outbreak, which is mainly in Detroit, has 457 confirmed cases as of Oct. 30th. Of those, 370 have been hospitalized and 18 have died. As of July 7th. MDHHS reported only 200 cases.
MDHHS said that 107 cases were confirmed from August 1, 2016 to March 1, 2017.

"We haven't found one contaminated food source or exposure at this point," said Angela Minicuci of MDHHS.
