Why "Jabbering Jimmy" Haslam is the problem with the Cleveland Browns
Ownership. That's the reason for the failure of the Cleveland Browns, according to two Cleveland sports columnists, Bud Shaw and Doug Lesmerises.
"Jabbering Jimmy" Haslam, owner of the Cleveland Browns, is "confused" and "impatient beyond belief", according to Shaw. "And easily swayed", said Lesmerises.
Haslam "prides himself on asking a thousand questions in every meeting he is in", said Shaw. "If you heard him talk about why the A.J. McCarron trade fell through, it was because he (Haslam) was asking too many questions, too late in the process."
Lesmerises asked Haslam what Jimmy would do if he reached the conclusion that his ownership was the source of the team's problems. Haslam's answer:
"I will get to that bridge when we get to it."
Haslam's Pilot Flying J where Jimmy is CEO, has had major problems too. Pilot's sales have tanked 40 per cent since the FBI raided the company. The Haslams were forced to sell. They lost control of their family business. Their share of Pilot dropped to 20 per cent.
