Maria Butina plea guilty today to one count of failing to register as a foreign agent with the Justice Department.

Instead of telling the court she was born in Severn, Maryland on Aug. 2nd, 1985 to an American serviceman, Butina agreed to plea that she was a non-citizen.

She remains in a jail isolation cell without bond until Feb. 29th when she will be sentenced up to five years in prison.

Judge Tanya S. Chutkan was “randomly assigned” the cases of Butina and Imran Awan, the “Pakistani Mystery Man”. Chutkan released Awan without jail time “because he suffered enough”.

Awan was accused of running a spy ring in Congress since 2004. He received immunity after pleading guilty to one count of bank fraud.
